Mello Jamz is a Caribbean-British selector whose sound is rooted in reggae, lovers rock, soul and sound system culture.
Raised in a home where music was ever-present, her foundation was shaped by her parents’ Caribbean heritage. Her father, an electrician by trade, DJ’d at clubs on weekends, while her mother, a nurse, filled the home with records and hosted gatherings where music brought people together. From an early age, Mello Jamz was immersed in sound — listening, selecting, and creating mixtapes for friends and family.
For over two decades, she has supported both established and emerging UK artists through promotion and community platforms. Her work has included artist support, promotion and management, beginning with early work alongside Neville Morrison during a period that saw chart success and recognition at the Black Music Awards, now known as the MOBO Awards. Over the years, she has also supported and connected with respected artists and producers including Vivian Jones, Nadine Sutherland, U-Roy and Mad Professor, alongside influential labels such as Fashion Records, Jungle Rock, Ariwa, Joe G’s, Rads and Nu Edge
Annually, she is part of the team supporting VIP guests at the ‘Giants of Lovers Rock’ event at indigo at The O2, working alongside key figures within the genre and continuing to contribute to the culture at a respected level.
As a selector, Mello Jamz is known for creating warm, intentional atmospheres that blend classic lovers rock — from voices such as Carroll Thompson, Sandra Cross, and Janet Kay — with deeper cuts in reggae, dub, and soul.
With vinyl at the heart of her approach, her sets are guided by feeling, memory, and a deep respect for the music. Whether playing digitally or from record, her philosophy remains the same: thoughtful selection, cultural awareness, and a sound that is always curated for listening ears.

I first took an interest in DJing in my late teens through a friend who had his own decks. That led me a few years later to buying my own pair of Technics SL-1200s (I much prefer the silver ones to the black 1210s). They’re still going strong to this day.
Since then I’ve played at countless parties around the country, had a regular show on Ipswich‘s ICR FM during the early to mid-2000s and have been part of the Transient Radio family from day one. After much resistance and snobbery, I finally embraced the digital revolution a couple of years ago, although I still buy and spin vinyl.
Playing out, I lean towards deep house, tech house, all shades of techno (including dub techno), dubstep/140 as well as drum and bass. I also love playing old and new acid – along with the Amen break, I’m a sucker for a 303 squelch (hearing these iconic sounds is like catnip to me).
My radio show goes out between 4pm and 6pm on the first Saturday of each month, covering a broad spectrum of music. I typically draw tracks from across various styles (including disco, 80s boogie, soul, hip hop, dub and ambient alongside the more electronic sounds I like to play for the dancefloor), airing fresh music released only that week to tracks from forty, sometimes even fifty, years ago. Hence the show is called ‘Future:Past’.
To understand what’s shaped my sound and style, we have to begin by going a long way back. Eighties synth pop was where it all started for me. From there it was just a small sidestep into the 808 and 909 beats and riffs of house and techno that followed. The Belleville Three – Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson – were (and still are) firm favourites of mine, as well as the second wave of Detroit producers like Carl Craig, Kenny Larkin and Dan Curtin.
I started to get really serious with listening and buying electronic music following the advent of the UK techno and electronica scenes of the early to mid 90s. 808 State, The Black Dog, B12, LFO, The Future Sound of London, A Guy Called Gerald, The Irresistible Force, Orbital, System 7, Reload/Global Communications, The KLF, Aphex Twin, Plaid and The Orb were on regular rotation during this period. I also listened to a lot of Luke Slater, Stefan Robbers, Dave Angel, Kirk Degiorgio, Stasis, Bandulu and DJ Shadow.
Living 60 miles outside the capital, I would painstakingly Blu Tack the cheap antenna from my Pioneer stacking system to my bedroom ceiling until I got something vaguely resembling a reception. Depending upon weather conditions, I could then pick up Colin Dale and Colin Faver’s shows on Kiss FM. Along with John Peel on Radio One, this was how I’d get my fix of new electronic music during these exciting times. The NME, Melody Maker, DJ Magazine and Mixmag were also good research tools. I’d buy records from the likes of Jelly Jam (Brighton), Fat Cat (London), BPM (Leicester), Rounder (Worthing/Brighton), Eastern Bloc (Manchester) and Rockaboom (Leicester) amongst many other places. That said, the money I earned back then from working part-time behind the deli counter at Tesco didn’t go that far towards feeding my habit…
I was born just a couple of years too late to have experienced first hand the rise of acid house and the Second Summer of Love. I did, however, go to a few free outdoor raves in/around Brighton before the authorities clamped down on parties playing “sounds wholly or predominantly characterised by the emission of a succession of repetitive beats” (section 63(1)(b) of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 – what other youth subculture has had its music defined in law?!). I also went to Sterns whilst it was still in its heyday; a nightclub set largely underground, beneath an old mansion house in the hills just outside Worthing – people would travel from all over the country to go to this legendary rave venue which was literally on my doorstep.
I spent a few years in Leicester during the early 90s where I released a couple of house tracks on a subsidiary of DJ SS’ classic hardcore/jungle label, Formation Records. Regularly visiting their 5HQ base on Charles Street, I was repeatedly bombarded by the frenetic beats, sub bass, chipmunk vocals and riffs of hardcore. While I love listening to those sounds now, back then the techno purest in me was having none of it. At least, not until LTJ Bukem’s “Demon’s Theme” came along – the first release on his pioneering Good Looking Records label. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that the track sampled a number of techno records. The rolling Amen break also resonated with me, starting my long-term love affair with the raw power, syncopation and versatility of Gregory Coleman’s famous drum hits and cymbal splashes.
I moved to Ipswich – the home of Transient Radio – in the late 1990s and came to discover its rich musical heritage, particularly with drum and bass. The town is linked to the likes of Photek (still my favourite electronic music producer of all time, followed closely behind by Burial), Digital, Spirit (RIP), Klute, Rob Solomon (Universal/Origination), Certificate 18 Records, Function Records and, of course, the place where you could – and still can – buy all that music, Redeye Records.
“But hey, enough of my yakkin’. Whaddaya say? Let’s boogie!”

Obsessed with synthesisers from an early age, Marcus has been making music since his childhood and deejaying since his teens. As one half production duo of Tone Control and under the “Suitdancer” solo projects he has continued to indulge his fascination with soulful electronic sounds, forging links with scene stalwarts in both London and Madrid where he spent many years cutting his teeth in the studio, playing live shows and DJ gigs. Now settled back in East Anglia, he continues to create and has joined the Transient Radio Family to share his lifelong love of sound.

“The Soul Explosion” is all about sharing the tunes and the music that I love with a wider audience. My music collection on vinyl and digital traverses the genres of soul, boogie, disco, jazz-funk, modern soul, northern soul, rare groove, jazz, funk, soulful garage, gospel, old skool hip-hop, Motown and everything in between. Whatever you hear on “The Soul Explosion” has one thing in common – every single track is a CHOOON (no fillers) !!
I’ve been lucky enough to be broadcasting for over 20 years, and over recent years across the globe on the internet. I’m still as enthusiastic now as I was the first time I got behind the mic.
Music really is a big passion of mine, and for 2 hours on the 1st Sunday of every month here on Transient Radio, I’ll be hosting Soul Explosion presents The A-Z of Disco, delving waaaaaay down deep into the disco crates, in alphabetical order, showcasing a different letter every show.

Mat “matski” Gould has been buying and playing records for a large chunk of his life. The first record he bought was in 1982, George Clinton – Atomic Dog, and he still has it in his collection. Discovering the Street Sounds Electro series soon after was a pivotal moment, which was quickly followed by listening to hip-hop.
A few years later it was all about techno from Detroit and Europe, and then the bleep movement coming out of England. That led to hardcore, rave, and jungle/drum and bass.
All these genres, and lots more, still get bought and played today. To have the opportunity to play music that may be new for some, is a privilege and he hopes you enjoy it.

Whether he’s spinning a club set of classic and future house; getting weird in a back room or poolside with dub disco and Balearic; or masterfully soundtracking an Ibiza sunset, Chris Coco is the DJ with the music to make something beautiful happen.
He makes a weekly radio show called Melodica, curates online and live events with The Chill Out Tent and spends too much time in the studio making Balearic music solo and with collaborators including George Solar, DJ Rocca, Luca Averna, Camilo Miranda, Nick & Samantha, and a bunch of other beautiful people.
In other decades Chris has been part of seminal house act Coco Steel & Lovebomb; editor / founder of DJ Magazine; co presenter of Radio 1’s late night show The Blue Room; tour DJ for Robbie Williams; and a prolific producer of chill out and Balearic albums which now keep streaming very nicely.
He started DJing in the acid house explosion of the late 80s before going Balearic after the inevitable hazy revelatory experience at Cafe Del Mar. In recent years he has become a sunset specialist spending the summers soundtracking sunsets in Ibiza and Italy; as well as keeping his many Mixcloud and international radio listeners hooked to his weekly, eclectic Melodica radio show. There are few DJs who have his breadth of musical knowledge and obsession with finding the perfect track to make every moment feel special.

A champion of underground dance music in his local area for many years, Grinny favours deep grooves from across the electronic, house and boogie spectrum, playing records that are rich in personality and complex textures. His enthusiasm for music is infectious and stalwart. His long-running and much loved Hold Tight party, where he is resident DJ, has given a platform to many likeminded souls to play a wide range of music from dub and reggae to soul, garage and techno, creating a community of music lovers in the process. In recent years Grinny has been pursuing pure electronic sounds through his experimentation with modular synthesis, a wormhole from which he shows no sign of emerging any time soon.

Join Conrad every first Sunday of the month from Midday to 14.00pm for the “Roots Of Modern Soul” show selecting from his own collection of vinyl encompassing music from the late 60Ts right through to the present-day with the occasional future classic, lesser-known album tracks and obscurities 45’s from way back featuring Modern, Rare Grooves, 80s Soul, and music from the back of the crates.
All selected with love, always soulful, always played from the heart, and always from my own musical collection.
Conrad started DJing in the mid 90s as a resident of Flava @ the Attic club Ipswich this led to him spinning vinyl on a regular basis at Trader Jacks, Hollywood’s, The First-Floor club & Bar Fontaine (Ipswich), the Hippodrome Colchester & Chains in Barking. Playing a mix of Soul, Funk, 80s Boogie, Rare Groove & R’n’B with an occasional Hip Hop track.
With a weekly radio show that ran for three years, firstly on Flex, then Vibe Fm. We came to the attention of Trevor Nelson and became part of his “Rhythm Nation” tour and also his weekly TV show “The Lick” shown on MTV.
I was lucky enough to meet Trevor Nelson, Ronnie Herel, Femmi Fem, DJ Swing, and Bigger. To name a few.
Most recently guest appearances at K Bar (Ipswich) Block Party (Ipswich) & Beach Street (Felixstowe) Heavy Soul (Cambridge) Richards Parties (GT Yarmouth).
I hope you can join me as we walk the path of “The musical garden” every 1st Sunday of the month

DJ Smoothgroove (also known as Trip ET or Offworld DJ), a stalwart of the Ipswich electronic scene and current host on Transient radio.net, boasts a career spanning decades of deep underground culture. His journey began as a post-punk musician with Psychocandy in Nice (1986-87) and La Mer, a collaborative project that gained early interest from Brian Eno.
Transitioning into the emerging electronic landscape of the late 80s/early 90s, he spearheaded the Offworld sound system, touring house and techno across the newly liberated Eastern Bloc, including Berlin’s original Love Parade scene, and sharing residencies with Amsterdam’s Radio 100. As a pioneering producer and DJ, he has consistently championed new hybrid genres, including Nu Jazz and Dubstep. Today, he continues this odyssey with his “Offworld” show on Transient Radio, presenting a connoisseur’s selection of fresh promos and new underground releases.

Growing up in Newport, Wales surrounded by DJs and a soundtrack that refused to stick to one genre, Mac was always going to do things differently. The Marmite Show is a nod to his roots, and a show that sounds exactly how it feels to grow up loving all music equally. Electronic, soul, reggae, ambient — sometimes all in the same hour.

Ello sailors!!!
Its Robbo here! Your host of the frisbee moon show and DJ on Transientradio.net. I’m relatively new to DJing but have always had a deep-seated passion for music. I play an eclectic mix on the Frisbee Moon show, from hip hop to Anoushka Shankar. I always try to inject some fun into the show and still make plenty of mistakes so at least I’m still human!!
You will always find me on the dance floor at all the Transient events that take place of which there are many so always keep us in your ears and keep up to date on socials. I feel very humbled to share the air waves with all the other very talented DJ’s here on Transient, I think I’m allowed to even call them my friends

Yebsie’s Good Sound showcases a variety of underground music. Whether it’s Berlin Techno, Deep House, Uk Garage or Jungle music, Yebsie will take time finding a unique collection of sounds for the show. Playing unreleased tracks from artist linked to Ipswich and the surround areas. The Good Sound show also features guest mixes from fellow DJs exhibiting local talent.
Yebie’s love of underground dance music began after being introduced to pirate radio when visiting a friend’s Dad in Vauxhall, London aged 16. Since then he has been collecting records and DJing all for the love and admiration of the underground music scene. Later on taking a keen interest in the roots of this sound. From Uk Garage and Jungle to Techno and House Yebsie has been adding to his collection and hunting down only the premium tracks of these genres. Whilst living in Bristol for 8 years Yebsie became a resident at Noods Radio as well as putting on regular club nights with fellow DJs from the station in venues such as “The Surrey Vaults”, “Cosies” and “The Brunswick Club”.
In recent years Yebsie has moved back to his home town of Ipswich, where the underground music scene is rapidly growing, once again. Having developed a love of sound system culture whilst living in Bristol, Yebsie now runs “Genesis Sound System” along with DJ Lochness and Rig Master Jay. This owner built and operated sound system has become a staple within the nightlife scene in the East of England. Having recently been booked at Latitude festival where it was received with high praise from all that heard it.
In April 2025 Yebsie joined Transient Radio where he continues to share his collective musical taste and provide a platform for other DJs in Ipswich to showcase their talents. Through Transient Radio and Bambaata (events promoters) he has been regularly filling dancefloors at events held in the East of England and London.

Stoo’s first DJ gig was over 40 years ago and since then has DJ’d for Sony Ericsson at a Champions League Final Competition Winners party, at Pride on Hackney Marshes and warmed up for DJ royalty such as Horse Meat Disco, Joey Negro, Francois Kevorkian and more recently Chris Coco. He presented the Disco / Not Disco radio show on Future Radio for seven years and is a third of ‘islands’, a DJ collective that holds sporadic Balearic lead parties in Norwich. Borrowing island’s ‘balearic and beyond’ tagline ‘The Darkest Light’ show blends a mixture of blissful, chilled out tunes that perfectly accompany his time slot of 8-10pm Sunday evenings.
