Le Crate is brought to you by a musicaholic father & son DJ duo. The concept is simple: Two generations. One crate. No rules. Together, we bring a refined selection of music across a variety of genres, eras, and cultures. Notably however, at the core of our musical identity sits a mixture of Jazz-Funk & Soul to eclectic rare grooves & Hip Hop. A bit about us, my dad (JAL) has been into his music for as long as he can remember and was particularly drawn to Hip Hop because that’s what was new, fresh, and emerging in his youth days. He first discovered the culture via local clubs, pirate radio stations, and the cassette tape mastermixes that were floating about from KISS FM and WBLS in New York. He eventually bought some decks and grew into an avid record collector, boasting acute taste and some serious crate-digging knowledge. With decades of listening and collecting behind him, he was bound to have a profound musical influence on his son, Dylan. Dylan Jay is a young and aspiring DJ, music producer & event curator. Born into a multicultural, music fanatical family, it was only a question of time until he started his own musical journey. In recent times, Dylan has been a major driving force of the old skool hip hop scene in Ipswich and is actively trying to bridge the generations, and ultimately bring the community together, all for the joint love of music. Every set is put together with care and we truly hope that you enjoy, and perhaps find inspiration in our selections.
